Hey All,

First I’d like to say that I hope you are enjoying your memorial day weekend. We’ll be having our traditional cookout later, so that’ll be a fun time. But before focusing on fun, I figured I’d post a quick post to the blog with an email I recently received from a window cleaner. And below the email and my response to the email, I’ll explain why I posted it. Here it is:

Steve,

Looks like you have been a busy guy! Just wanted you to know that I intended to read a few pages of How To Adopt The Business Mindset last night about midnight last night… Finished it about 1:30! It was fantastic! I really think that if every person were to read this manual when entering into any small business and followed it, there would not be the fallout with small business start ups that there is. Great work, I like seeing all the places that I am doing things right as well as being reminded of the few areas that I noticed I’m not following so closely.

I have seen other areas on the subject of window cleaning on the internet that want to focus on nothing but marketing or charging ridiculous prices for their work. There are a lot of duties that have to be maintained or the highest prices and the cutest marketing won’t be able to save your business! Thanks for pointing that out again! Thanks for all the work you do in this field.

And I should also mention that the Customer Factor has been an incredible asset to the growth of my business. Thanks again for everything.

Regards
Kelly Matteson

PS. I though I would also report that around here there is no recession in the window cleaning business! 30% over where I was this time last year! Have a good one!

My Response:

Hi Kelly,

Good morning to you and I hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Thanks very much for your comments. I appreciate them for sure. I really enjoyed writing How To Adopt The Business Mindset, so it’s nice to know that folks are benefiting from reading it.

Thanks also for your comments on The Customer Factor. Just wait ’til you see what we have coming. Some outstanding features are on the drawing board being worked on now.

30% over last year’s business? That is just fabulous. It really is.  Right…if you target the right people and do some quality marketing (like the home show that you recently conducted), you have to increase your biz from year to year.  It most certainly can’t drop.  :o )  That’s for sure.  Very cool.

Thanks once again for your comments.  And have yourself a great memorial day weekend.  Take care for now.

Regards,

Steve

Notes:

Some folks may think that I posted this for the testimonial portion of kelly’s email. After all he is a member of The Customer Factor and it’s helped him with the growth of his business. That’s excellent. I hear this from many other members also. And it’s nice to know that he enjoyed reading How To Adopt The Business Mindset. Very cool. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you should do so. Anyway…I sure do appreciate your comments kelly. But the reason why I posted this email to the blog was for the P.S.  He’s at 30% over last year’s biz!

This is just phenomenal. Now Kelly did conduct a home show which was written about on this blog recently. There are still home shows going on across the country, so contact the chamber of commerce in your town and see if there is one coming up.

I spoke to another window cleaner 2 days ago who said that he also had a booth at a home show in his California location just this past weekend promoting his window cleaning service. Hang onto your hat! He walked away with 170 estimates to do for prospects! He said he’s going to send me some photos and more details of the show, so I’ll post this info. when I receive it.

Anyway…hopefully some of you reading this will make an investment into a home show and really put your business at the top of your game.

But let’s get back to the “30% over last year’s business” comment. This is an exciting statement. It just proves that the economy and all this negative talk about recessionary times will not hurt our businesses overall.

My own thought process on overcoming any prospects who are reluctant to spend for our services due to the economy is to do “more” of whatever. So let’s say you are distributing 1000 flyers each and every week, well…increase it to 1250. This’ll give you the same responses as before for just an investment of a few (very few) dollars more. Or if your business is listed in 2 community newsletters, then put your business in 3. If you’re only introducing yourself to 5 “like” businesses (carpet cleaners, pressure washers, janitorial services, etc.) each week, then introduce yourself to 7.   This is really elementary stuff. But it’s a great way to keep on humming along w/o missing a beat.

Take care for now and have a great day.

Regards,

Steve
