Hi Folks,

Just a blog post letting everyone know that you can download the new web templates here. Early this morning I completed the instructions on how to turn the web templates into a completed website, so everything is now ready to be downloaded. If you follow the step by step instructions that I’ve provided, you’ll have your website online in no time.

Within the instructions, I show you where to download 2 software products (one to work with the web pages and one to work with the graphics) that you need to use, but the good news is that both of them are free.

So literally every aspect of this process (using the proper software to take any of the web templates and converting it to a website) won’t cost you a penny.

Well…actually I better clarify. You’ll need to pay for a domain name. I mention this because some folks are not aware that they need to buy a domain name. :o ) I recommend godaddy.com. Go read this blog post for more information on domain names.

And then of course you need web hosting. Every website needs to be hosted somewhere. But the bulk of your expenses that you normally face when getting a website built (like paying for a web designer) goes right back in your pocket.

The limitation of using a web template…

Yes, although there are numerous advantages to using a web template when creating a website, there is one disadvantage.

And that is that it won’t be unique to you. We did create our templates in such a way where you can change colors, and do some other things to make ‘em somewhat unique, but the overall design won’t change much.

The only thing that I’d like to say about this uniqueness issue is “So what?”  :o )  I mean think about it for a second. If a prospect searches online for a window cleaner in “bethesda, maryland”, will that prospect see your website if you live in “las vegas, nevada”? No.

So if a bethesda, maryland window cleaner is using one of my templates for their website and you are using one of my templates for your website, does it really matter if the 2 sites are a little similar? Absolutely not.

The only thing that matters is what the search engines see, what meta tags you use for your web pages, etc. These are the most important issues when creating a website. I mean obviously you want a nice clean design and a good flow to your website (the templates we provide you are all about that), but I think some folks get a bit too hung up on uniqueness when they should really be focusing on the content of their website.

Within the Template instructions, I also stress this issue. I do provide you a few pages of content that you can use as a guide when creating your web pages, but search engines don’t index duplicate content, so ultimately you need to come up with your own unique content for each web page of your website.

Anyway…if you have any questions, please let me know.

Best,

Steve

P.S. A reminder that we are going to be releasing more web templates over time. So eventually we’ll have lots of different designs to choose from. But we have to start somewhere, so we’ve released 4 website templates to start. Go get ‘em!
