Christmas Light Installation Service Letter

I wrote a post recently where I included a couple of new service announcement letters that you can send to your customers when you announce any new service. If you missed that particular post, feel free to check it out.
But this blog post today talks about a letter or email you can send to your customers announcing a specific new service…and that service is Christmas Light installation.
Christmas is right around the corner, so this is the perfect time to let your customers know about it. You already have the ladders, so why not offer this service? It takes no money to get started (either in equipment or in finding customers since you’re working with your existing customer base), and it’s all profit. It’s truly one of those no brainer decisions.
I personally charged hourly for this service and just estimated how long I thought a job might take. I liked to try and get $50 an hour since that was my average hourly cleaning windows. So you could easily make $200 to $300 or more for each installation. It just depends on how big the house is, how many lights/decorations they want to put up, etc. etc.
Anyway…here is a letter that you can send to your customers to announce this service:
Hi Tom,
Steve here with Clearly Services. As a valued customer of ours, we felt it was important to send you a notice that Clearly Services now offers an additional service. And that service is Christmas light installation.
Few people have the time or the equipment to properly install their holiday lights and decorations, so that’s where we come in!
Christmas is right around the corner (can you believe it’s here already?), so we recommend that you call soon in order to get on our schedule. We expect heavy demand this holiday season, so don’t miss out on this time saving, done for you service.
As an extra incentive to call soon, we are offering the first 20 customers that call a $25 discount off our already low Christmas light installation pricing. So make the call right away and secure your spot!

You’ll notice I stuck in a discount to the first 20 callers. Put in whatever discount amount (or %) you want to and whatever number of callers you’d like to apply it to, but this is a great way to get a rush of callers now.
People are procrastinators by nature, so the worst thing you can do is make the letter seem like they can call whenever they want. So to prevent this, that’s primarily why I stuck in a discount for the first 20 callers and I also mentioned that we’re not taking any more calls after Dec 2. Otherwise you’ll have folks calling you on Dec 20th to have you do their lights on Dec 21st.
You’ll also see how I personalized the letter in 2 locations with the customer’s first name. Personalize any letter or email you send…always.
